PDP Rejects Presidential Election Results, Heads To Court
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has kicked against the presidential election results released early Wednesday in favour of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Buhari was declared winner, having polled 15, 191,978 votes against Atiku Abubabakr of PDP who scored 11,262,978.
Osita Chidoka, the PDP collation agent, while reacting to the results, said his party does not accept the result as announced. He said his party would seek redress in court to reclaim their mandate given freely by the good people of Nigerians.
“We think that INEC should have looked consciously to the use of the card reader, the absence of card reader is a major violation in the elections, it renders that election null and void, that is what the chairman promised us.
We believed that the cancellations that took place in the election impacting million voters required be looked into seriously”, Osita stated.
The INEC boss, in his response, said that the difference in the valid votes and cancellation was insignificant to impact on the general outcome of the election.
