The Nigerian army has announced that her troops of the 112 Task Force Battalion, assigned to the Mafa Local Government in Borno, have successfully recovered five anti-aircraft guns and three gun trucks.

The army headquarters narrated how five gun trucks mounted with anti-aircraft guns marched into Mafa town in a planned attack. The army, however, deployed swift fire power operation against these insurgents, leading to the death of three insurgents while the others fled the town riddled with bullet wounds.

“Troops of 112 Task Force Battalion deployed at Mafa in Borno State had effectively dealt ruthlessly with members of BHTs/ISWAP terrorists in Mafa, Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State, when some terrorists attempted to attack the town.

“The terrorists’ failed attack on Mafa was as a result of available intelligence indicating the desperate longing for food and other logistics by terrorists necessitated by the recent, incredibly tireless and ferocious troops’ operational exploits,” the army headquarters announced.

The army has now recovered a large number of heavy arms and ammunition, and has also rescued over 100 women and children who were kept as sex slaves and farmers in the North East region by insurgents.
