Senator Abbo Released On Bail

Elisha Ishaqu Abbo, the senatorial representative of the Adamawa North Senatorial District, has been released on bail after being arrested for physically assaulting a nursing mother.

The incident, which had occurred in an adult toy shop in Abuja and was recorded on the surveillance camera system of the store, caught the attention of the masses after being released on social media a few days ago.

The arrest was ordered by the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, after ceaseless physical and online protests were conducted by aggrieved citizens who expressed their intolerance of such misconduct. Elisha Abbo was, thereafter, subjected to investigations after tendering a public apology to the victim.

On Thursday, Senator Abbo, had applied for bail after answering questions asked by the police, but was denied.

However, the senator has been released on bail, and investigations have been stalled due to the absence of the victim who is unable to testify her account of the incident to the Federal Capital Territory Police Command.

He was, thereby, released on Friday due to the absence of Bibra, the victim.

According to a police source, Bibra is reported to have left Abuja to attend a family ceremony and is expected to return shortly.

The FCT Police Command confirmed to reporters that the probe will continue as soon as she is available to testify.
