The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has vowed that his administration will take drastic measures to ensure that the country is purged of criminality and insurgency.

The pledge is regarded as a relentless governmental will and grit towards bringing the menaces that challenge the safety of the country and its citizens to an abrupt end.

The promise was made known by the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, who had represented President Buhari at the grand finale of the 2019 Nigerian Army Day Celebration and Combat Support Arms Training Week which held at the Parade Ground of the Ikeja Cantonment, Lagos.

The Army Day felicitation holds on July 6 of every year and it started in 1976 as a memorial event to pay tribute to the Nigerian army. The theme for the 2019 celebration was “Professionally Responsive Soldering: A Panacea for Successful Military Operations.”

While speaking on behalf of the President, Vice-President Osinbajo, also made it known that the government and the Nigerian army have successfully tackled the security barriers in the country to a large extent and the battle against criminality and insurgency will continue tirelessly until they are completely flushed out of the nation.

He reiterated, “The challenge for us is to recognise this sick extremism of Boko Haram for what it is and form alliances across faith, ethnicities, to destroy an evil that confronts us all.”

In conclusion, President Muhammadu Buhari noted that efforts are increased towards the return of the Chibok girls, Leah Sharibu, and others in captivity.
