The Kano State Police Command paraded two suspects who reportedly kidnapped a five-year-old boy, identified as Ahmed Ado, from his school. They also drugged the young boy, who eventually died in the kidnapper's net.

One of the kidnappers, Musa Sanusi, and his accomplice were arraigned on Tuesday. Both suspects are reportedly 18 years of age. They masterminded the abduction of late Ahmed Ado and later contacted his family, requesting the outrageous sum of 50 million naira.

Malam Ado, the father of the deceased, told newsmen that the suspected kidnappers had kidnapped his son on his way back from school and called him [Malam Ado] to arrange a ransom of 50 million naira. The ransom was later reduced to 20 million naira because the suspects were in a hurry. After a day of negotiations, the father of the boy agreed to pay the kidnappers N200,000 and they accepted. The boy’s father was oblivious to the fact that his son was already dead. The police intervened and nabbed the kidnappers.

Commissioner Ahmed Ilyasu, the Chief Commissioner of Police, Kano State, narrated to the press how the police apprehended the suspects. He further stated that after intense interrogation, the suspects confessed to the kidnap and also led the police to the uncompleted building where they buried the body of little Ahmed. However, they denied having the intention of killing the boy and that he died as a result of the 'sleeping drugs' they forced on him.

The police said:

The police have exhumed the body of the victim and the suspects will be taken to court. This is a highest form of inhumanity and the police will not relent in its fight against all forms of criminal activities.

The increase in crime rates in the country has reached an abominable stage, but what is most disheartening is the audacious manner in which the younger generation, the so-called leaders of tomorrow, engage in these dastardly acts.
