Earlier today, several people were injured in a violent clash between members of the Islamic group, known as Shiite, and the police.

According to a reliable source, a journalist with Channels TV was also caught in the crossfire between the two parties, as he was shot and rushed to the hospital.

The reason for the sudden clash is the group’s demand for the release of their leader, Ibraheem El-Zakzaky. The grouped marched to the federal secretariat in protest.

The protest started from NITEL junction at Wuse 2 before the intervention of the armed policemen who blocked the road leading to the National Assembly and three arms zone.

Many people are reported to have been injured from the clash between both parties and in need of medical care.

There was pandemonium in the area, as live ammunition was fired at the incoming protesters while they marched towards the Eagle Square.

People living around the federal secretariat have been advised to stay off Wuse 2 and surrounding areas and also pay attention to suspicious movements.
