Mrs Betsy Obaseki, the wife of Godwin Obaseki, Governor of Edo State, has joined the ongoing campaign against human trafficking in Nigeria.

She made her conviction known in an induction event which held in Benin, Edo State, where she was decorated as the patron of the Nigerian Girl Guides Association [NGGA].

Her husband, the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, is battling the recent crisis in the State House of Assembly, which he blamed godfathers in the political system for. A Benin delegation visited Governor Godwin's home in Abuja and he informed them that the crisis generated from the inauguration of the state assembly was based on the fact that some people, who claimed to have brought him to power wanted to control the state government and he would not give an administrative power to “self styled political godfathers.”

Mrs Obaseki said at the induction:

"The fight against human trafficking is not negotiable as it is a fight for the soul of Edo State between light and darkness and that as darkness cannot overcome light, so also will the efforts of the state against human trafficking prevail.”

Her speech was well received by the attendees, as she also encouraged other notable inductees in the Nigerian Girl Guides Association [NGGA] to become exemplary citizens and mentors to all women they come across in all walks of life and encourage the fight against human trafficking.
