You will recall that on July 22, there was a protest led by the Shiites group around Federal Secretariat in Wuse 2, Abuja. Within a few hours, the protest turned into a violent one when there was a clash between the Islamic group and the police. So many people were injured and some lost their lives.
Precious Owolabi, who was a serving corps member attached to Channels TV as a reporter, was shot dead during the clash. This incident has left the family of the deceased and fellow youths mourning.
The Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo, as well as the Governor of Kaduna State, El-Rufai, paid a condolence visit to the family of Precious Owolabi in the state capital, Zaria, consoling them for their loss.
Precious Owolabi and a senior police officer were killed by stray bullets. The Vice President has taken to his Twitter handle to write the following:
"Nothing will ever compare with the pain of losing a child. This evening, I visited the family of Precious Owolabi, and as a nation, we grieve the loss of this bright young man. May the Almighty God comfort the family and loved one."
