No Snake Dropped On Me During Plenary Session – Ondo Speaker

Bernard Femi

Bamidele Oleyelogun, the Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, has debunked reports making the rounds that a snake fell on him during the plenary session the house had last week.

While he was speaking with newsmen, he said that the reports are not true and the media should stop misleading the public.

The speaker also said that during the tenure of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, the 8th Assembly saw a snake around the complex and probably instilled fear in the minds of the new lawmakers.

According to the current speaker of the house, the complex had been neglected by the past administration. He said that since the construction of the building in 1975, the complex has never been renovated. Furthermore, he mentioned that woodwork of the chamber had already been infested by termites, making it weak and prone to collapse.

“This, however, happened before the arrival of all honourable members for sitting; the ceiling did not fall on me as widely reported by newsmen.

“Money is budgeted for the renovation annually by past administrations, but yet, we do not get the cash.

“It is only the present administration of Gov. Akeredolu that has shown concern and assured us that total renovation will soon be accomplished for the complex,” he said.

He also appreciated the presence of the governor for his appearance at the assembly complex to verify its present condition. Oleyelogun has reassured the people of the state of the commitment of the house to make laws that would propel the state to the next level.

“We shall not waiver in this responsibility,” he said.
