Barely hours after the unconstitutional arrest of the leader of RevolutionNow and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, by DSS agents, members of the freedom agenda showed up in their numbers at the National Stadium, Surulere, during a peaceful protest.
What started as a peaceful demonstration, however, turned to a major fracas, as armed policemen arrived the scene and shot at some protesters while arresting others.
The RevolutionNow is a movement organised by a group of activists to protest the insecurities and other crises plaguing the nation, but things turned soar when the federal government arrested the leader of the movement.
Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has criticised President Buhari for ordering the arrest of Sowore.
Pictures of the chaos which occurred in the early hours of Monday morning at the front gate of National Stadium, Surulere, have flooded social media. Nigerians reacted to this on Twitter.
