University Of Abuja’s Best Graduating Student Appeals To FG For A Job

The best graduating student of the University of Abuja, Miss Talatu Adamu, has appealed to the government and multinational companies for an employment opportunity in order to take care of her parents.

Adamu made the appeal during a celebration and public lecture held in her honour as the overall best graduating student of the university, Kuje, Abuja.

With a cumulative GPA of 4.82, the 22-year-old graduated from the Chemistry Department in the 2018/2019 session. Speaking at the event, she thanked her parents for their support and love during her studies at the university and also stated that a job would enable her meet her needs and that of her family who struggled to put her through school. Adamu also advocated for the Girl Child Education Movement in the country with a call to the federal government to give utmost priority to educating the female child.

She also spoke about helping students from poor homes who are unable to afford proper education, through the revitalization and strengthening of scholarship schemes. She then called on Philip Aduda, a senator in the FCT and the Kuje Area Council Administration, to look into the matter.

In response to her statement, Abdullahi Sabo, the chairman of Kuje Area Council, FCT, offered her an automatic Master's degree scholarship to any university of her choice. He also appealed to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, telling him to consider indigenes of the Federal Capital Territory for employment opportunities and admission into the institution, as he alleged that natives were denied employment.
