Femi Falana, the prominent human rights lawyer, on Tuesday, expressed his displeasure over the continued detention of Omoyele Sowore, the convener of #RevolutionNow protests.

The publisher of Sahara Reporters was on Saturday arrested by the Department of State Services in a hotel somewhere in Lagos.

His arrest was on account of a purported #RevolutionNow protest which he had planned and fixed for Monday, August 5.

However, despite the stiff resistance from the federal government, the protest still held on Monday as planned in some states of the federation. Sowore is currently in the custody of the DSS in Abuja.

Falana, while speaking to the newsmen concerning the issue, wondered why Sowore was still in detention, adding that he was supposed to have been arraigned since Monday.

He noted that by law, a suspect should not be kept in detention without arraignment within 48 hours of arrest.

“As a human rights lawyer, I’m on top of the case. I have sent lawyers to the DSS as of Tuesday morning and I’m awaiting a feedback,” he stated.
