Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation and Public Relations Officer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), took to his Twitter page on Friday to say that, even if the president jails every single Nigerian and no one is left on the streets, stones will rise up to oppose him.
He tweeted, “President Buhari needs to appreciate the fact that using EFCC to arresting Atiku’s lawyer (Giwa-Osagie) and son-in-law (Abdullahi) changes nothing and doesn’t deter anyone.
“Even if you jail EVERY Nigerian and no one is left in the streets, the stones will rise up and oppose you.”
Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had earlier filed a money laundering charge against Uyi Giwa-Osagie, Atiku Abubakar’s lawyer, and his son-in-law, Abdullahi. Fani-Kayode’s outburst comes as a result of the arrest of Atiku's lawyer.
As a PDP Chieftain, Fani-Kayode has been a keen critic of the Buhari's All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.
According to EFCC, Giwa-Osagie handled $2 million without going through any financial institution. The anti-graft agency stated that the sum involved exceeded the amount authorised by the law for cash transactions.
EFCC’s prosecuting counsel, led by Rotimi Oyedepo, filed the case against the lawyer and his brother, Erhunse Giwa-Osagie, at the Federal High Court in Lagos.
