The Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, is mourning the passing away of Madam Rekiya Momoh Bello, stepmother to the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.
The president, through his spokesman, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Tuesday conveyed the president's message, expressing his sorrow at the death of Madam Rekiya. He also sent his condolences to the family, the government and people of Kogi State over the loss.
The statement partly reads:
“President Buhari wished peace for the departed soul and prayed to Allah to grant her bereaved families the strength to bear the loss.
“President Muhammadu Buhari noticed Yahaya Bello's absence at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors meeting with the President in Daura, Katsina State, earlier on Tuesday. The president was then informed of the death of Madam Rekiya, whose burial made Governor Bello stay back in his state.”
Governor Bello belongs to the same political party as President Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
