Alleged Boko Haram terrorists infiltrated Buni Gari in the Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State. The attack saw two people injured, while four houses were razed by the perpetrators.

The attackers, armed to the teeth were said to have stormed the community in the late hours of Sunday and opened fire on the people. The sporadic shooting injured two persons, but no deaths were reported.

The village head of Buni Gari, Alhaji Wakil Kayama, bemoaned the lack of security in the community. He claimed his house, a car and foodstuffs were engulfed in flames from fire that was set by the perpetrators. He also noted that the residents of the community were on the brink of deserting Buni Gari if necessary action was not taken by the government to curb the criminal activities in the community.

“There is no security in town, troops from Buni Yadi only come for patrol and leave whenever there is an attack. The members of vigilante group are not equipped, therefore, they cannot withstand the terrorists.”

“Two people were injured, my house, vehicle and foodstuff were all burnt to ashes by the attackers,” he narrated.

The head of the vigilante group of the area, Mr. Mai Modu, barely escaped the attack but also had his house burnt to ashes. While recounting his ordeal, Modu pleaded with the government to arm them with sophisticated weapons to confront these suppression and threats from the terrorists. He also begged the state government to deploy adequate security operatives to protect lives and property in the town.
