The Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, was attacked by unknown gunmen around Gako hill in Nasarawa Eggon local government. Three policemen accompanying his convoy as well as a civilian driver were reportedly killed by suspected gunmen.
The incident was said to have occurred around 8 pm when the deputy governor was heading to Abuja for the swearing-in of ministers scheduled to take place on Wednesday morning.
According to media reports, the escort commander was informed that there were suspected gunmen on the road.
