A video revealing four police officers shooting two unarmed men went viral on social media day. According to our correspondent, the two men that were shot were said to be online scammers that contacted their victims through the platform, Jiji.ng, and robbed them off their money as well as jewelries when they came in contact with them.

The incident occurred in Iba new site, Lasu-Ipaja road, Lagos. The officers involved were attached to the Iba police station. They received the report that four armed men had robbed a man of his iPhone X worth over 450,000. The gang of four had reportedly been terrorizing the Iba community and the police intervened. During the chase, the police caught two of the criminals, while the other two escaped on motorcycle.

After apprehending two of the criminals, the police officers were filmed forcing the two unarmed men to alight the mini-bus. When they did, they shot twice, a bullet each for the two men. According to reports, they died instantly.

The Lagos State Police Commissioner, CP Zubairu Muazu, has announced that the four officers will be dismissed from office and handed over to Yaba SCID for trial.

You will recall that in April 2, 2019, some officials of SARS were arrested after allegedly shooting a young man, called Kayode, to death in a viewing center, claiming they were in pursuit of a suspect in the vicinity. Nigerians have reacted differently to the killings.
