Africa Needs Transformational Leaders To Move Forward – Afe Babalola

Margaret Solace

Chief Afe Babalola, the founder of the renowned Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, has attributed the afflictions of Africa to the absence of metamorphic governance.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria made this declaration while giving a speech in Ado Ekiti shortly after he was bestowed with the African Union Agenda 2063 Ambassador and the African Role Model awards by the African Union Economic Socio Cultural Council.

Babalola expressed disappointment at the tragic state of the continent, with the absence of transformational leaders like Nelson Mandela, Kwame Nkrumah, Mahatma Ghandi, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Ahmadu Bello and Obafemi Awolowo. He stated that Africa will only move ahead when it is being governed by transformational rulers.

The Afe Babalola University founder received felicitations from dignitaries, including President Muhammadu Buhari, who sent congratulatory messages on his awards, and the Alafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who commended the SAN for his great efforts at pushing the nation forward.

Buhari sent his congratulatory message to the veteran lawyer through a statement signed by Mr. Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity.

Dr. Tunji Ashaolu, the leader of the AU team, explained to the public that the accolades given to the Senior Legal Advocate were influenced by his immense involvement in the AU agenda in the sectors of education and economy.
