Only 3% Of Our Men Are Corrupt – EFCC Boss

Margaret Solace

The head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s North-East zonal office, Michael Wetkas, has revealed that only a small fraction of the members of the commission are corrupt.

Wetkas made this declaration while delivering a speech at the town hall stakeholders meeting prearranged by the commission in Gombe State.

He further disclosed to those present at the meeting that the EFCC intentionally picked the zone to host the town hall gathering so as to capably cross point the general public and civil societies with the primary aim of ensuring efficacy.

While speaking, the EFCC boss divulged that the commission has corrupt members who occupy about 3% of membership positions.

He agreed that, although this percentage may seem low when compared to the corruption rate of other agencies in the country, the number of the commission’s corrupt members are overstated.

Wetkas used the speech podium to express his discontent at the exaggeration of the figures attached to the commission’s fraudulent officials.

“Only about 3% of our men are corrupt,” he said.

He made it known that the officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission did not enjoy seeing people go to jail but that is the task assigned to them.
