Members of the South East Governors Forum (SEGF) in a meeting held recently in Enugu State, with each South Eastern Governor present, have decided on measures to resolve the incessant crimes occurring in their various states.
The Ebonyi State Governor, Engr. David Umahi, who is also the chairman of the forum, has said that they have put a ban on herdsmen who roam around with AK47s and cutlasses.
He has also given the assurance that he would pass the message to all security personnel in the state to ensure that the ban is enforced and anyone caught disobeying will face the law.
The governors also decided that this will be a continuous program held regularly in order to flush out these bandits and keep their respective states safe. The Ebonyi State Governor stated that they are set to arrange “measures to restrain movements of herdsmen and their cattle from one state to the other which is a source and point of conflict with the natives and farmers, and also restrain the movements of cattle and herdsmen from going into communities across farm lands.”
