The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has initiated a program, known as the Joint Borders Drill Patrol, to ensure security in the Nigerian borders, including Dole Kaina, Kamba and Lolo in Kebbi State.
Other security agencies have joined this initiative, making it the Ex-Swift Response, and in only a few days, they have intercepted contraband items, including diesel, fertilizer, petroleum, drugs and also used belts which were smuggled into the country from Benin Republic and Niger. Several cartons containing illegal products were also intercepted.
At the Dole Kaina, Lolo, and Kamba, customs border offices, there were over 379 gallons of oil, 59 bags of fertilizers, four big bags of moringa snuff, and other forbidden items that were smuggled into Nigeria from the neighbouring countries, Niger and Benin Republics. These goods were moved through illegal routes and were impounded.
Joseph Attah, the Public Relations Officer of the service, said in a statement that these activities were necessary to tighten the security at the trans-border.
