Embattled former governor of Cross River state, Donald Duke has paid off his N537m debt. According to reports, he fulfilled the terms of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) debt recovery.
Recall that his Ikoyi property was seized by AMCON after a Federal High Court ruling in Lagos authorized AMCON to seize the property of the former governor and Presidential aspirant over his alleged N537,334,360.77 debt.
According to Donald Duke’s lawyer, Edoigiawerie Uyi, his client showed good faith by paying the sum of N350M and asked the court to discharge the take over order.
The presiding judge, Justice Nicholas Oweibo granted Uyi’s request and discharged the take over order.
Thus the embattled former governor will be taking back control of his seized Ikoyi property.
