The highly anticipated Presidential election tribunal held today, Wednesday, September 11, 2019 and it upheld President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory at the polls.
According to the Tribunal, President Buhari was the winner of the February 23, 2019, presidential elections.
Furthermore, the Tribunal dismissed PDP and Atiku’s petition. According to the leading Judge, Mohammed Garba, “the petition is hereby dismissed in its entirety.”
Recall that the petition dated March 18, 2019, was filed by Atiku and PDP, challenging INEC’s declaration that Buhari was the winner of the February 23, presidential election.
However in a small victory, the Tribunal denied INEC’s motion to strike out Atiku’s petition challenging Buhari’s qualification to contest.
Also the tribunal ruled against APC’S motion alleging that Atiku Abubakar was a Cameroonian, thus not qualified to contest for the Nigerian Presidential office.
