The Federal University of Oye, Ekiti State, has shut down over protest and attack on the wife of the governor, Bisi Fayemi.
Following a violent protest that led to loss of lives and properties in the school on Tuesday, the authorities of the Federal University of Oye, Ekiti State, on Thursday, shut down the institution indefinitely.
Godfrey Bakji, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, made the disclosure to newsmen.
Bakji noted that the management of the school was disappointed over the attack on the wife of the state governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi.
The PRO added that the decision was taken by the school authorities to maintain peace and order in the school before the resumption date would be announced.
“It is highly unfortunate that the students of this university can go to the extent of attacking the convoy of the wife of the governor of the state.
“The management condemns the act and that is why a disciplinary action has been taken against all the students to curb future occurrence.
“The students have been sent home indefinitely and they will not return until the management concludes its investigations as to what actually led to the crisis,” Bakji stated.
