Debby O

The Ibadan Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested a sales agent of Fidelity Bank, identified as Kehinde Olumide Agbabiaka.

He was arrested for allegedly stealing N137 million from the personal and corporate accounts of a customer in Ibadan.

According to reports, the theft went on from January 2017 till July 2019. He was arrested after a petition from the bank’s regional Security Officer and the Cluster Control and Compliance Manager was filed on August 20, 2019.

Agbabiaka, who was an account officer of the customer, visited the client frequently and took money, with an understanding that the money was remitted into the client's account.

However, the Fidelity sales representative diverted the client's funds for personal use. To hide his criminal activities, Agbabiaka issued the customer ficticious bank deposit slips.

The game was up when the client could not reconcile the funds in his bank statement and the deposit slips from the account officer.

Agbabiaka used the money acquired fraudulently to purchase a house, cars and luxury goods which have been recovered by the EFCC as evidence.

The Fidelity bank employee will be arraigned in court to face the law for his crimes.
