The Lagos State Police Command, through a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bala Elkana, has warned job seekers in Lagos State to be wary of scammers and false job leads.

The statement narrated how the Ojo police station arrested one Mr Emeka Emmanuel recently. The 29-year-old from Ijaniki, Iyana Iba, was arraigned for posing as an official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to dupe innocent people.

“The suspect was in possession of a fake EFCC ID card which he used in parading himself as an EFCC operative.

“The suspect duped innocent citizens under the pretense of providing them employment with the EFCC as operatives,” the statement read.

A man, identified as Mr Olaposi Semiu of Agbara, was said to be a victim of the fake EFCC operative after the suspect unlawfully collected the sum of N51, 000 from Agbara over a month ago.

Semiu alleged that he paid the money to ensure that his son secured employment as an EFCC operative.

According to reports, the suspect confessed to the crimes and would be charged to court.
