Boko Haram Occupies 8 LGAs In Northern Borno – House Of Reps

Bernard Femi

Ahmadu Jaha, a member of the House of Representatives, affirmed during a recent plenary session that Boko Haram insurgents currently occupy eight local governments in the state out of 10.

While noting that he considered the situation to be a major threat to the people of the state, he stated that one of the causes of the insurgency was the lack of transparency by the government.

He, thus, advised the state government to look into the Non-Governmental Organizations in the state, as some are suspected to have ties with the Boko Haram sect.

He further stated that these agencies follow due registration process before carrying out any of their activities in the state.

The members of the house have expressed their hope that the Federal Government can release funds for security agencies to be used to curb the excesses of this group.

The fight against Boko Haram has been ongoing for a while but efforts to get rid of the insurgents, especially in northern states, have proved futile.
