Several media platforms online recently reported the abduction of 13 people on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, and the police have something to say about it.

According to officers of the Kaduna State Police Command, the news was misinterpreted and would only leave panic in the hearts of people residing in these regions.

They, however, confirmed that some men in military uniforms recently forced themselves into some houses on the outskirts of Dutse Village, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 am on December 23 and the unknown gunmen kidnapped six people whose whereabouts remain unknown.

DSP Yakubu Sabo of the Public Relations Department of the police force stated that one of the victims, Umar Abbas, 32, had escaped from his captors and reported the incident to the command on Tuesday.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Aji Janga, confirmed that operatives of the command's Anti- Kidnapping and SARS units had been mobilized to the area for possible rescue of the victims. He further stated that a search for the kidnappers was ongoing and they would be brought to book.
