The publisher of Sahara Reporters and the convener of #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore was released on bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja, today ( Friday, October 4, 2019).

However, his bail came with strict conditions, one of such conditions was that Sowore must have N100million and two sureties in like sum. His sureties must be occupants of Abuja and they were to own properties in Abuja worth N100million with original documents of the property deposited with the court.

Furthermore, the former Presidential Aspirant was to deposit the sum of N50 million as security.

Another bail condition stipulated that Sowore must remain in Abuja for the remainder of his trial for treason.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu in her ruling also prohibited Sowore from addressing the press or any rally until his trial was complete.

In response to these bail conditions, Sowore’s lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) called them stringent.

Justice Ojukwu ordered that Sowore be remanded in the custody of the Department of State Service (DSS) until his bail conditions are met.

Recall that the embattled publisher was arrested by the DSS on August 3, 2019, for planning a protest themed #RevolutionNow and was held for 45 days in custody.

On the 44th day, his charges were changed to treason and Sowore was accused of insulting the president.
