APC Chief Raises Alarm Over Violence In Bayelsa

Bernard Femi

The National Deputy Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Mr Yekini Nabena, has expressed concern over the lingering violence in Bayelsa State.

The APC stalwart noted that the reason for the violence was the upcoming gubernatorial election which is scheduled for November 16.

Mr Yekini made a reference to the violence which erupted in the capital of the state on Monday where he petitioned the Inspector General of the Police, Adamu Muhammed, to look into the state sponsored Operation Doo Akpo.

The APC chief alleged that the security outfit was floated to instigate crime and intimidate political opponents against the ruling party in the state. He, however, called for the proscription of the Operation Doo Akpo.

After the House of Assembly crisis that left some political thugs injured, Mr Yekini claimed to have reliable evidence of some big names in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) sponsoring violence within the state.

“With the popular APC candidacy of David Lyon, Bayelsans have already decided to do away with the failed administration of Governor Dickson and his stooge which he has foisted on the PDP. No amount of rigging and intimidation will deter Bayelsans. The wind of change is blowing across the state, regardless of party leanings,” Yekini revealed.
