The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, representing President Muhammadu Buhari, spoke about terrorism with Egypt’s parliament delegation, led by Dr Ali Abdel-Aal Sayed Ahmad.

According to Osinbajo, the relation between Egypt and Nigeria was strong and “the friendly and brotherly relations will continue.”

He emphasized the importance of joint action in solving security challenges posed by Boko Haram and ISWAP in Africa. He asked for teamwork in battling terrorism before it became heightened and got to middle East parts.

“We would want to urge that Egypt joins us in calling upon the world, the international community, to immediately see the need for concerted action against Boko Haram, Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP), and terrorist groups operating in the Sahel, in particular,” Osinbajo stated.

“We think that it is time for that kind of concerted action in the Sahel. And with such concerted action, we believe that we can prevent a situation as seen in some parts of the Middle East where damage to lives and livelihoods was done by ISIS.”

Osinbajo also mentioned that Nigeria won’t fail to propagate religious tolerance and tackle challenges in Egypt, adding that companies will invest and do business in Egypt if given the chance.
