Funsho Akinwale

Respite came for Amaju Pinnick, the President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and four others on the board, as the Federal Government on Tuesday withdrew the corruption charges against them.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, in her ruling, discharged and acquitted Pinnick, the NFF Secretary, Sunusi Mohammed; the 1st Vice-President, Seyi Akinwumi; the 2nd Vice-President, Shehu Dikko; and an executive member, Yusuff Fresh.

The judge disclosed, during the court proceedings, that the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Hon Malami, had withdrawn the case against them, adding that there was no basis for charging them to court.

Recall, weeks ago, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had sealed Amaju’s Ikoyi mansion and his board members’ properties located in Abuja when the prosecution began for the corruption charges against their offices.
