Eludoyin Oluwanisola

The Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers has urged the house committee on petroleum to stop the sale of cooking gas in filling stations.

The president of the association, Nosa Ogieva-Okunbor, recently made the disclosure in the office of the Deputy Chairman of the committee, Rep Alex Egbona (PDP-Cross River), in Abuja.

Ogieva-Okunbor stated that the selling of cooking gas and petrol in the same location posed a threat to the lives of people. He added that there was no place in the world where gas was sold in the same place as petrol.

He noted that Nigerians were exploiting the industry and it posed a danger ahead, adding that gas importation would be stopped if enough supplies are made available.

Pleading with the committee to stop the selling of gas in filling stations, the Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Dr Alex Egbona (PDP-Cross River), agreed with him, saying that stakeholders will be called upon to discuss issues in the industry.

He promised that the challenges will be solved before the end of the present administration
