Austin Papi

Ten Nigerian soldiers have been killed and 12 others are feared missing, following an attack on a military team in Borno State by Boko Haram insurgents last week.

The attack occurred at Damboa Local Government Area (LGA) at about 7:35 am during an overnight military patrol, and it was recorded to be the first major attack on troops this month.

Military sources further confirmed that nine Boko Haram insurgents were also killed during the attack and three AK-47 rifles were recovered by the soldiers during a sweep of the area after the attack.

Nine officers, who were wounded during the attack, have been evacuated to the military hospital in Maiduguri. The Nigerian troops, who have been on a strict mission to wipe out all traces of insurgency in the North East, have acquired military intel from Russia on how to fight Boko Haram terrorists, who have been a menace to the nation for over a decade now.
