Former Nigerian President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has condemned bad politicians that “groom boys as political thugs, while they send their children to good schools abroad.”
“The signals coming from both states (Bayelsa and Kogi States) are quite disturbing; the use of thugs, shooting guns. Already some people have been killed, when we have not even started the voting process. This needn’t happen if we get to a point in this country where voters’ cards matter,” he said.
Jonathan was speaking during the presentation of the book, ‘In the Cause of Service’, written by former Rivers State Deputy Governor, Sir Gabriel Toby.
The former president warned that until votes begin to count, the wrong people would continue to occupy leadership offices in Nigeria. He added that corrupt politicians are the ones who bring woes to the country
He further noted that the use of an electronic system of voting would end electoral malpractice and its ills in governance.
