Federal Government To Complete Road Projects By 2020 - Fashola

Bernard Femi

The Minister of Power, Housing and Works, Babatunde Raji Fashola, has reiterated the federal government’s commitment to fast-tracking all the ongoing road projects which commenced during the first tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Fashola, who stated this through his media adviser, Hakeem Bello, revealed government’s plans to embark on new road projects across the country, including six geopolitical zones.

The Ministry of Works and Housing has presented 504 road projects under contract to the National Assembly’s joint committee based on President Buhari’s mandate, according to Fashola.

Fashola noted that it was not right to present a figure of 3,300 road projects for next year’s budget.

The minister also commented on a previous statement he made that Nigerian roads were not as bad as people portrayed them to be. This statement, which was attributed to him, raised serious issues with members of the Peoples Democratic Party, who ordered the minister to resign.

Fashola revealed that the government was focused on making sure Nigerian road networks were sorted out, assuring everyone of a good road network which will be delivered by the federal government.
