I Am Not Afraid To Die – Obasanjo

Yusuf Dotun

The former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has said that the fear of death would not deter him from speaking out when the country continues to go wrong.

Former President Obasanjo made this known at an interactive session held during the Presidential Youth Mentorship Retreat organized at the Youth Development Centre, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.

The former head of state also mentioned that grooming better leaders for the sake of a promising African future was more of a priority to him than any other issue.

Obasanjo commented that he had been blessed by God, with a lot more years on earth after the completion of his service as a military head of state and as a democratic ruler.

The former president also enlightened the attendees on the objective of the mentorship retreat which was to simplify the emancipation of creativity from the youths.

While speaking, he also noted that young people in Africa have to push for more effective communication with their leaders and that they must also imbibe the habit of discretely and communally surrendering themselves towards the sole purpose of the African unity.

Chief Obasanjo concluded his session with answers to some of the questions from participants where he appreciated God for life and stated that he is not afraid of death.
