Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday, restricted the state’s Vehicle Inspection Officers, VIOs, from operating in the morning.

The move is to ease to the perennial traffic gridlock which the agency contributes in no small measure to while checking vehicle documents and arresting offenders during the peak period.

Briefing newsmen at the Security Council Meeting at the State House, the governor said that the traffic operatives would only operate on the roads just for three hours to aid free flow of traffic.

According to him, the officers would now operate between 12.00 pm and 3.00 pm.

“We are going to restrict the operation of the men of the VIO to off-peak period between the hours of 12 mid-day to 3p.m,” he said.
