Orji Kalu’s N7.65B Fraud Case To Hold Thursday

Funsho Akinwale

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Monday stated that the hearing of the 12-year trial of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and two others for an alleged N7.65 billion fraud will hold on Thursday, December 5.

The judgement was rescheduled for Thursday following the absence of Justice Mohammed Idris.

Others facing trial with Kalu are Udeh Udeogu, a one-time Director of Finance and Accounts in the state and Kalu’s company, Slok Nigeria Limited.

Recall, the case commenced in 2007 when the former governor was first arraigned before a different judge.

In the application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kalu was alleged to have diverted state funds running into N7.65 billion during his 8-year tenure as governor of Abia State.

The transaction was made through his firm, Slok Limited.
