The Federal Government of Nigeria will prosecute the acting Registrar-General of the Cooperate Affairs Commission, Azuka Obiageli, before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, on charges related to assets declaration.

This was disclosed in a statement released by the Head of Press and Public Relations, Ibraheem Al-Hassan.

Al-Hassan also mentioned that the CCT Chairman, Danladi Umar, had earlier approved December 18, 2019, as a given date for the arraignment, and to this regard, the offender has been summoned by the tribunal

According to Al-Hassan, Obiageli is facing indictment charges of about 11 counts on violation of the provisions of Paragraph 1, 9 and 11 (1a), (2), of the Fifth Schedule, Part 1 of the constitution and these offences are punishable under paragraph 18 (1) and (2) of the same constitution.

The statement suggested that the 11 counts included several alleged transgressions in assets declaration issues.

This statement released for the purpose of indicting the CAC Registrar-General was signed by an operative of the Code of Conduct Bureau, known as Musa Ibrahim Usman, on behalf of the Hon. Attorney General of the Federation.

The statement also noted that the Deputy Director of Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mohammed Al-Hassan, would also be arraigned on a two-count charge alongside Obiageli on the same day.
