The Federal High Court in Lagos has convicted the former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, who was charged with N7.1bn fraud.
Others convicted with Kalu are Udeh Udeogu, a one-time Director of Finance and Accounts in the state and Kalu’s company, Slok Nigeria Limited.
The judgement was rescheduled for yesterday following the absence of Justice Mohammed Idris.
Recall, the case commenced in 2007 when the former governor was first arraigned before a different judge.
In the application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kalu was alleged to have diverted state funds running into N7.65 billion during his 8-year tenure as governor of Abia State.
