On Monday, a driver was crushed to death in an accident which involved two trucks around Conoil Bus-Stop, along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway. The unfortunate incident was narrated to reporters by the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE)
The Senior Commander of TRACE Owode-Ijako Unit, Mrs Temitope Oseni, informed the public in a brief press conference in Ota, Ogun, that the accident happened at about 3.00 p.m. on Monday.
Mrs Oseni explained that a tipper with registration 'AKD 411 XJ' and a truck of the Nigerian Breweries, marked 'FST 115 XN', had hit each other slightly.
However, the situation had been resolved peacefully by other drivers around, but the angry tipper driver remained adamant, refusing to accept any apology.
He then jumped on the Nigerian Breweries’ truck, unfortunately for him, his legs slipped off the vehicle, as he fell under the tyre, and his head was crushed to death.
According to Mrs Oseni, the remains of the late driver has been claimed and taken away by his relatives for immediate burial.
The Senior commander of TRACE assured the people of Ogun State that normalcy has since been restored to the ever-busy Lagos-Abeokuta expressway to allow the free flow of traffic.
Mrs Oseni further advised other motorists to always exercise patience, most especially, in the face of conflicts. She urged them to exercise restraint, and avoid retaliation as “Two wrongs cannot make a right.”
