Why Nnamdi Kanu May Not Attend Father’s Burial

Funsho Akinwale

There are strong indications that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), may not attend his father’s burial following his case with the federal government.

Within four months, Kanu and his siblings have lost both their parents, his father, a traditional ruler of Isiama Afaraukwu Autonomous Community, Eze Israel Okwu Kanu, and mother, Sally Kanu.

One of his brothers, Emmanuel, while speaking on the burial arrangements, disclosed that he was not sure if Kanu would attend the burial but was sure of giving his father a befitting burial.

“We have not ruled it out that he is coming. We are still having consultations in the family.

“When the time comes, we will know what to do. But for now, one thing is certain; if I am going to stand out there, I will make sure they are lowered and given a very befitting burial,” Emmanuel said.
