Fire Razes David Mark’s Benue Home

Funsho Akinwale

The home of former Senate President, David Mark, in Otukpo town, Benue State, was razed by fire on Friday.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire had spread from a nearby bush to the residence of the former senator, burning several valuables, including two ambulance vehicles and over 15 motorcycles parked in the premises.

Efforts by the domestic workers on duty to put out the fire proved abortive until the arrival of the State Fire Service from Otukpo.

One of the domestic workers, who wanted to remain anonymous, said: “We made every effort to quench the fire but the more we tried the more it continued to spread.

“It was when we noticed that we could not stop it from engulfing the guest house that we called in the fire service.”

At the time of filing this report, however, no family member had commented on the matter, even as it was learnt that Mark himself was away from home.
