A ward Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), identified as James Tolorunju Ajulo, who was a representative of Akungba-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State, has been abducted by unknown gunmen.
Mr Ajulo was reportedly kidnapped at his residence located in Ibaka quarters of Akungba-Akoko.
The kidnappers were said to have stormed Ajulo private abode a few minutes after he arrived from an outing. The house was ransacked before they eventually took him away.
Ajulo was one of the factional ward chairmen of the APC at Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the state, living a quiet but comfortable life.
According to sources, the gunmen drove him away in his personal car after they had ransacked his house.
A man named Tolu Babaleye who is a Political associate and private lawyer to the captive, confirmed the incident to reporters, while also narrating how the incident happened.
“They ransacked his house after which they took him away in his own car. They used the Toyota Sienna car they came with as a backup to escape from the scene.
“They shot sporadically in the air to scare away residents which aided their escape from the town."
He also explained that the kidnappers are yet to establish contact with the family, However, the incident had been reported at the Akungba Police Division. He also sought the aid of the Department of State Service (DSS), Army, Police and Civil Defense Corps to assist in rescuing James Tolorunju Ajulo unhurt from his captors.
While confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Femi Joseph, added that investigations had begun on the matter. He also urged the family and relatives to co-operate with the police as detectives had been mobilized towards reinstating the freedom of the APC Chieftain.
