President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday ordered the recall of Damilola Ogunbiyi, the sacked Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

With the immediate reinstatement from the president, the purported suspension by the Minister for Power, Sale Mamman, has just been overruled.

Recall, the minister had placed Ogunbiyi on an indefinite suspension in December 2019 and ordered an investigation into the alleged infractions by the agency under her watch.

Ogunbiyi who was not pleased with the treatment after the suspension tendered her resignation and took up a job at the United Nation (UN).

It was on this premise, the president recalled her back for the position, having performed well in the agency.

“You can’t suspend someone that has already resigned months earlier.”

“It is quite discouraging that we don’t seem to value our own people, however, it is a positive development that the President reversed her suspension.

It sends an encouraging and clear message to other Nigerians also serving their country diligently,” an insider in the agency said.

“I am thrilled when I heard.

“The President has demonstrated the utmost leadership and character.

“Ogunbiyi can now go on to her new role with her reputation and integrity intact.

“ I am sure she will continue to do great things for Nigerians and Africa,” another source stated.
