Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on a visit to the Akesan market which was razed by fire early Sunday morning assured the victims and people of the area that his administration will rebuild a new modern market as soon as possible.
The governor, who visited the site of the incident accompanied by members of his cabinet members on Wednesday, sympathised with the victims of the fire incident that destroyed properties.
The governor released a statement via his twitter page: “We visited Oja Akesan, Oyo Town to assess the damage caused by the fire outbreak last Sunday, this afternoon (Wednesday)."
According to the post, the governor commiserated with traders who lost goods in the fire and told them he is taking full responsibility for the failure of the fire service to contain the fire and promised that his administration will make things right.
He further wrote: “I assured them that our administration will rebuild a new modern market as soon as possible, and that the Caretaker Chairman of Oyo East LGA has a list of all traders in the market. He will give it to us to enable us to support the traders, who lost goods in the fire."
