The Lagos State Government has announced that the execution of cashless toll policy will commence fully at the Lekki/Iloyi Link Bridge on Monday, January 20, 2020.
In a statement by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ministry of Transportation, the State Commissioner, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, said that a stiff penalty will be meted out to any motorist who fails to present the right e-tags.
He said that the policy was to enable freer roads and faster traffic flow.
“The state government will not hesitate to apply the law on any motorist that attempts to frustrate its effort at improving traffic situation along the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge corridor.
“The e-tags are free to obtain and widely available. Therefore, such sharp practices are unnecessary,” he said.
He warned against corrupt practices and said from January 20, no fake payments proof should be presented.
