The people of Lagos have been struck with a terrible fire outbreak at one of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipelines at Ekoro, Abule-Egba area of Lagos State.

According to reports, several properties have been consumed in the inferno, which literally spread like wildfire across all the channelling pipelines in the area.

After a brief inquiry, sources revealed that the wildfire was as a result of the activity of pipeline vandalizers who tried to steal the oil directly from the pipelines.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Lagos State Fire Service, Mr Amodu, who confirmed the incident, said there was no casualty as at the time of the first report. However, two casualties were subsequently reported from the outbreak.

The raging fire has displaced many residents who had to run out of their homes for fear of being ensnared in the inferno.

As at 9.30 pm, men of the Lagos State Emergency Response Agency (LASEMA) and other first responders were fully mobilized with the activation of the Lagos State’s Emergency Response Plan and efforts to curb the raging inferno
