Okada, Tricycle Ban: Activist Seeks Understanding

Mr Razaq Olokoba, President of Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), recently appealed to residents in Lagos to be patient and understanding with the Lagos State Government on the restrictions placed on tricycles and commercial motorcycles.

In his statement, he said the decision taken by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is for the good of the people, as it is not a new law being enacted but a revival of an existing law.

He further urged the affected persons not to see the enforcement of the law as a punishment but an action taken in consideration of the safety of lives of the people whose welfare is the responsibility of any sane government.

Olokoba lamented over the number of accidents and the resultant effect that has led to deaths, and in most cases, amputation of limbs through these two means of transportation. He said that it is an obvious fact that these vehicles of operation have been taken advantage of by criminals to perpetrate crimes in the state.
